This website and tool are for informational purposes and do not constitute an offer of advisory services in any jurisdiction where PortfolioLab LLC is not authorized to conduct business.

This tool is educational — not investment advice

The 401(k) Fee Analyzer provides an educational estimate of the fees in your retirement plan based on documents you provide. It does not provide individualized investment advice, and it does not consider your complete financial situation, objectives, or risk tolerance. Nothing on this website is an offer to buy or sell any security, or a recommendation to change your investments, your retirement plan, or your plan contributions.

Using this tool, receiving a report, or communicating with us about your report does not make you an advisory client of PortfolioLab LLC and does not create an investment advisory relationship. An advisory relationship is established only through a written advisory agreement.

How the analysis works — methodology and limitations

• Automated document reading. Your report is generated by software, including an artificial-intelligence service that reads the documents you upload. Automated extraction can contain errors or omissions. Always verify the figures in your report against your plan's official documents before making any decision.
• Estimates, not statements of your account. Fee percentages and dollar figures are estimates derived from the documents you provide, including the account balance shown on the statement you upload.
• Benchmarks are approximations. Industry-average comparisons are based on published industry survey data for plans of similar size and are approximate.
• Projections are hypothetical. Long-term projections assume a constant hypothetical 7% annual return before fees, with no contributions or withdrawals, for illustration only. Where a report shows what a lower fee could be worth, it applies an arbitrary percentage reduction to that person’s own current fee purely to illustrate how fees compound — it is not an offer, a quote, or a representation that any particular fee level is available. Projections are not a prediction or guarantee of future results. Actual returns will vary and may be negative; fees are only one factor affecting investment outcomes. All investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Privacy policy

What we collect. When you use the analyzer we collect the information you enter (name, email address, employer, and optionally an account balance) and the plan documents you upload, which may contain personal financial information such as your account balance and investment holdings.

How we use it. We use this information to verify your email address, generate your fee report, and contact you about your report and our services. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers. To operate this tool, your information is processed by the service providers that run it: our web hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and Anthropic, whose Claude AI service reads your uploaded documents to extract fee information. These providers process your information to provide their services to us.

Retention. We retain the documents you upload, the extracted fee information, your report, and your contact details so that our adviser can review your analysis against the original documents and follow up with you. If you do not complete email verification, your uploaded documents are deleted within 24 hours. To request deletion of your information at any time, email ajb@portfoliolabco.com.

Security. Information is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
